More from our South American adventure

Back as promised. This time in the North of the country at Iguazu Falls, situated on the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The falls are truly magnificent and are considered one of the wonders of the world. Iguazu means big water and certainly lives up to its name, with between 150-300 seperate cascades ranging from 62-82m tall with a total width of 2.7 km. Half of the flow is chanelled through the narrow horseshoe shaped Garganta Del Diablo (Devils Throat), with this being the longest drop.

To add to the excitement of our adventure, we bravely took on the the falls by travelling almost up to the cascade in a small craft. Needless to say, we got completely soaked through! This adventure gave us an up close and personal experience of the true power of the falls, whose mean flow rate is a staggering 1746 m3/s.

To really appreciate the size of the falls we crossed to the Brazillian side for half a day and viewed them from the opposite bank.

Where are we going to next? I hear you ask. Well, I think we will travel a long way south, all the way to Patagonia. Keep watching for more updates...
